Recent laws directly impact Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), Park Model RVs, and other small-footprint homes. The landmark "Casita Bill," HB 2720, effective in 2025, mandates that all municipalities with populations over 75,000 must allow ADUs on residential lots, creating a clear legal path for backyard cottages. Furthermore, HB 2579 specifically prevents counties from prohibiting Park Model RVs (under 400 sq. ft.) from being used as ADUs, provided they are placed on a foundation and meet local setback rules.
